If you are a UK Old West living historian or re-enactor and are interested in the real history rather than the Hollywood version then apply to join Open Range, and you will be part of a growing group of like-minded individuals helping to keep our hobby alive and kicking.

The rising cost of insurance means that unfortunately we will have to increase our membership rates, with effect from 1st January 2011.This is due to increased costs, and additional personal accident cover. The rates haven't been increased for three years, so we hope you will be understanding.

We have also introduced a new Junior membership, this is primarily for under 18’s who may attend events without their parents. We have spoken to the insurance company who cover the Basic Members and, while they have no lower age restriction, they assume that youngsters under 16 will be with their parents and therefore under the parent’s PLI. The Sportsman’s Association also accept Junior Members so we can offer Extended Membership to under-18’s also.

The rates to 31st December 2010 are:

· Adult Extended Members £35.00

· Junior Extended Members £30.00

· Adult Basic Members £12.00

· Junior Basic Member £6.00

New rates for memberships running from 1st January 2011 are as follows:

Adult Extended Members £40.00
Junior Extended Members £35.00
Adult Basic Members £15.00
Junior Basic Members £8.00

Membership of Open Range will help you keep your western guns, because the Violent Crimes Reduction Act (Clause 34) prohibits the sale, import and manufacture of “realistic imitation” firearms, however it will be a valid defence to be a member of a recognised organisation carrying Public Liability Insurance. The Open Range committee strongly recommends the Extended membership option, for total peace of mind especially if you take part in any other field sports or activities apart from Old West re-enacting.
